Everything’s Bigger In Texas, Including Dreams

Recently, I had the incredible honor of speaking at the Texas State Fair Big Tex Masterclass, an opportunity that felt like a dream come true. The Texas State Fair is an iconic event that embodies the spirit and culture of the community, and being a part of it in such a significant way was both humbling and exhilarating. What made it even more special was having my entire family there to support me during both sessions—my husband, son, and daughter got to see “mommy” in action!

My journey with Vicky Cakes has always been driven by a deep passion not only for creating delicious products but also for empowering others to succeed in the food business. This Masterclass allowed me to share my experiences and insights with aspiring entrepreneurs, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the platform and partnership. I created and taught two courses:

Course 1: Building Community in the Food Business

The first course I presented was "How to Build Community in the Food Business." In today’s market, building a strong community around your brand is crucial. It’s not just about selling a product; it’s about creating a connection with your audience that resonates on a deeper level. I walked the attendees through the steps of product development, from ideation to production, and ultimately to getting their products on retail shelves. I covered everything from understanding your market, creating a compelling brand, navigating the logistics of production, to meeting regulatory requirements. Drawing from my own experiences with Vicky Cakes, I provided actionable insights to help attendees avoid common pitfalls and accelerate their journey to success.
