Introducing The “Christian’s Corner” Blog By Vicky Cakes CEO
Hey it’s Christian here, and “Christian’s Corner” is my new blog where I’ll be sharing funny stories, life lessons, and encouraging words with the intent for us to grow together, as I believe we were all intended to do.
The Birth of Christian’s Corner
While attending Holy Angels Catholic School (which later became Sister Thea Bowman Catholic School) as a child, we had recess in the parking lot. There was no “playground” with slides, swings, merry-go-rounds, basketball hoops, jump ropes, or hula-hoops (which makes me wonder what our tuition went towards, but I digress), so we had to use our imaginations and get very creative.
Imagination was no problem for me. I created Christian’s Corner—it was a corner of the parking lot where all of my friends would gather every day at recess and follow my lead. We’d play “Mother May I,” “red light, green light,” “hopscotch”, “tag”, and any other game I made up the night before while drifting off to sleep.
At this young age, I realized there was something different about me. I could rally kids together to do just about anything, and the crowd grew over time because we were having more fun than anyone else in the parking lot.
From Childhood to the Present Day
Fast forward to the present day, we live in an “influencer” world where people follow the lives, looks, and likes of popular social media personalities, but the authentic connection is missing.
My confidence and take-the-lead attitude back then would be well put to use today to build an online community, but I only seek to use the power of influence for good—to share good memories, give hope, and remind everyone (including myself) of just how sweet life can be when you acknowledge who you are, what you have, and how good life is to you in the present moment, no matter how small or big it may seem.
Bringing Christian’s Corner Back
So I’m bringing “Christian’s Corner” back with my new friends—you! I want to have a good time without all the bells and whistles that we often think we need to have a good time.
I’m eager to share funny stories, life lessons, and encouraging words, and grow together as I believe we were all intended to do.
If you can relate or have a story of your own to share, send me an email so that I can acknowledge your experience and possibly share it with our community here!
Until next time, in the parking lot of life,
– Christian Sargent
